We’ve been thinking of you all these past few months. Aunt Gail was a strong family figure in my life, and I’m incredibly grateful for our time spent together.
Aunt Gail (and you, Uncle Avi) never missed an opportunity to see family when we were in Israel. What a treat! On each of my 3 trips to Israel – 2008, 2015, and 2023 – you two took time out of your schedule to see me, even if it was just to meet me in the hotel lobby and wash my clothes because I ran out of underwear (2008 high school trip)! In 2023 Jason and I had the treat of staying with you guys for 4 days. We loved seeing and feeling everyday life in Jerusalem.
I loved learning about Aunt Gail’s quilting community. She came to DC for a quilt convention in 2016, and I met her for Chinese lunch in between sessions. She explained her quilting world to me, something I was unfamiliar with at the time. It’s no surprise Aunt Gail thrived in this beautiful network of creative, passionate people.
Aunt Gail was giving, thoughtful and lived every day with a kind spirit. She loved deeply and was welcoming to all.
Much love to you, Avi, and the rest of our Schmidt family,
Elena & Jason
