Aunt Gail was pure and radiant. She loved Her family and always had a smile on her face when they were around. She genuinely loved being with others and found peace in solitude reading a good book. Her creativity and joy
Manifested in many things but most tangibly quilting and she made beautiful works of Art. I felt supported by her every step on my life’s journey and she always reflected joy. She carried a lot on her shoulders but was light and amiable. Always present.
When Simone and Ariana were born, she came over to hold them and took them on a walk in the heat of August so I could have a few minutes to myself. She spent time at my house to connect and reflect. I will cherish that forever.
When I wanted to learn more about my maternal history, I interviewed her and asked her many questions about her perspectives on why things were the way they were. It was healing to have context, and I wish I would’ve written down all the details.
It is what made me feel I had answers to a part of myself and my family’s history that I hadn’t had full exposure to. I wanted to write those things down, but I was in a post partum fog at the time. They are a feeling in my memories. A gift of the past brought into the present for healing. Aunt Gail made the long journey from Israel to Tulsa every summer just so we Could live in the same place with our cousins. We have many fun memories from when we were young. When we landed in Israel, she was there to pick us up. That is what life is all about. Thanks for making our lives more complete, our beloved aunt. We miss you and wish we could have had more time together. Rest in power.
