A memory by

Michele Walker

Gail and I were cousins, but our bond went much deeper. While I was raised in Australia and she in Tulsa, Oklahoma, our paths finally crossed in Israel while we were both studying in Ulpan – She in Jerusalem and I in Kibbutz Hulda.

From the moment we met, Gail took me under her wing. Even after I returned to Australia, my heart remained in Israel, and when I eventually followed it back two years later, Gail and Avi opened their home to me without hesitation.

Gail was more than family; she was a mentor. She was the one who revealed to me the profound meaning within The Little Prince, which remains one of my favorite books to this day, and she opened my eyes to the surreal world of Salvador Dalí. I am truly a better person for having known her.

Her zest for life was a perfect reflection of her spirit. There is a profound void where she used to be, but I can honestly say she was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be forever loved and remembered.
